CELEBRATION!

Romance Studies Colloquium
Oct. 14-16, 2004

The Hyatt Regency Jersey City
on the Hudson

Local Attractions
The Hyatt Regency is only minutes away from Liberty State Park, Newark, and Manhattan by public transportation.  The hotel concierges (Richard and Craig) can help you book a number of different activities, including theater and concert tickets, double decker sightseeing tours, helicopter tours, trips to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, and sunset cruises along the Hudson River.  If you would like more information or wish to book in advance of the colloquium, feel free to contact them by e-mail or phone (1-201-469-4780).  Information about upcoming productions, shows, or expositions in New York City can be found here.

Local Dining
There are numerous restaurants within walking distance of the hotel (see the Hyatt's list of local restaurants), as well as literally thousands of others in Hoboken (a short subway or taxi ride away) and Manhattan (a slightly longer subway or ferry ride).

Excursions
If there is enough interest, we will organize a dinner excursion on Saturday, preceded by an informal walking tour of lower Manhattan (the World Trade Center site, Wall Street, the Brooklyn Bridge, Little Italy, and Chinatown).  We will meet in the hotel lobby at 5:30 p.m. for this trip.  Participants will pay the actual cost of what they order.  If there is enough interest, we will also offer a group excursion to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island on Sunday morning, leaving the hotel at 10:00 a.m. for Liberty State Park (a short tram ride away).  Boats run frequently throughout the day, so it is possible to create a flexible trip.  The boat trip is advertised as $10 round trip.  Click here for details.
