Anthropology

Job Description:

Associate or full professor cultural anthropologist for an active scholar/teacher with strong track record in political economy, public or applied anthropology, or contemporary theory. Must demonstrate the ability to bring theory to practice in at least one of the following areas: health disparities, public health, mental health, or health policy; race and ethnicity; immigration, the study of diasporas, transnationalism; community-state relations, and community development. Experience in using various methodologies, including quantitative methods, desireable. Administrative and/or teaching experience in graduate programs expected. The successful candidate will teach existing survey courses (for our general education program), electives, and develop graduate courses in cultural anthropology.

Review of applications will begin on November 28, 2005 and continue until the position is filled. Members of the search committee will be available to talk to candidates about the position and the department at the American Anthropological Association meetings in Washington, D.C.

Ph.D in Anthropology. Demonstrated ability to engage in research, grant applications, and teaching. Must have the ability to create and execute field research projects involving collaborations among students and colleagues from within the department and the greater northern New Jersey/New York community. Experienced New World archaeologist with strong interdisciplinary perspectives and record of incorporating theory into fieldwork, teaching, and practice. Demonstrated excellence in teaching core, undergraduate and graduate courses in the classroom and the field. Expertise in North American Archaeology with secondary areas in one of the following desirable: the archaeology of the Northeastern U.S.; CRM/Public Archeology; archaeological theory. Ability to work closely with the Center for Archaeological Studies and provide leadership for Center activities. Ability to work collaboratively with related on-and off- campus programs. Candidates are expected to participate in curriculum development and review.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Classics and General Humanities

Job Description:

Applicants with expertise in Classical Studies to teach general education, core and advanced courses. Teach the equivalent of 4 introductory Mythology sections per year to undergraduate general education students, to majors and minors in Classics and General Humanities. Develop and teach upper-level courses in myth or other appropriate classical or general humanities topics. Assist faculty coordinator of 20 sections of Mythology per semester in improving the curriculum and planning for teaching to common texts.

Qualifications & Requirements:
Ph.D. in Classical Studies or an appropriate related field with special interest in the study and teaching of myth and in interdisciplinary connections. At least 2 years of college teaching experience with proven excellent teaching ability. Evidence of engagement with scholarship appropriate for eventual tenure. Expertise/experience in the classical Western humanities tradition, in Latin teaching pedagogy, or in developing master’s level Classics and General Humanities programs a plus. The Department of Communications Sciences and Disorders is seeking an individual with an earned doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Speech and Hearing Science, CCC-SLP desirable, and a minimum of 5 years of academic experience for a tenure-track position in an ASHA accredited graduate program in Speech-Language Pathology. Responsibilities include teaching, advisement, research, and possibility of clinical supervision in the candidate’s area of expertise. Applicants with less experience will be considered. Rank will be determined based on experience. The candidate should have a documented record of scholarship and a proven record of excellence in teaching. Grant seeking, along with service to the department, university and larger professional community are expected.

Title:
Marie Frazee Professorship in Contemporary American Literature

Candidates should have a decade or more of successful university teaching and a record of ongoing, substantial scholarship in contemporary American literature. They must demonstrate a deep commitment both to teaching undergraduate students and also to mentoring young faculty to support their development as literary scholars. The Frazee Professorship will be the centerpiece of an emerging departmental focus in contemporary literary study.

Full-time, tenure-track position at the professor level. Appointment to the Frazee Professorship will be for a five-year term, and is renewable. The endowment will provide a graduate assistant and annual support for research activities.
