Essay00011 Technology is playing important role in people's life today. Modern man has better means of communications, facilities compared to the primitive man. Our future is going to be wireless and we are lucky to have these facilities. In future students may have choices of studying at home by using technology such as computers or television. I would prefer to study at home rather then going to a traditional schools. The advantages of studying home are you don't need to commute or stay on campus. Whenever the classes are you go online and sit there for hours and get the knowledge. Students would have chance to watch their younger siblings while they are taking classes online. They can even do other stuff when they are taking class. They would have a lot of time for other things since they don't have to drive and be on time to go to classes. They can also save money to stay on campus or to commute. They would have same facilities at home that they are going to have at a traditional school. The online classes are going to be cheaper and would have all the facilities for better purpose. I think everyone in future is going to use technology to get education and would be able to save a lot of time. There are disadvantages of this technology too. When the power goes out, when your phone line doesn't works and the most important one is you don't get extra help you need if you take classes online. Some people may have problem with that and they would prefer to go to traditional schools. The choice depends on individual, if they feel comfortable with classes' online or traditional schools. I would prefer online classes better because then I could best education while I am home with my family. Essay00014.text In " Going to Exile" by Liam O'Flaherty, the Feeney's were risking their children's life by letting them go to the United States even though Michael and Mary were uncertain about what was going to happen to them. Michael and Mary were going to the unknown country for the better future. Michael and Mary were moving to the United States with various dreams in their mind. They were leaving their family, relatives and country behind and they were moving on with their lives. Michael and Mary were opening the new door and were closing few doors as they were leaving their country. Michael and Mary had dreamed about their future and the new hopes. Michael was looking for better job so then he can send money to his parents. Mary was thinking about finding a good guy who would love her. She wanted someone special in her life. They were dreaming about their future but they do not know what is going to happen. Michael was certain to send money home when he would start earning. "I'll send you that money the very first...more money send to you by Christmas."(9) Michael wanted to help his father in the financial problems of the house. This were the hopes they wanted to accomplish in their life and for that you need to take risk to get it. The Feeney's love their children very much and they hated that their children were leaving the country. Michael and Mary were leaving the country where they were born and raised. They spend most beautiful years of their life in their country. It is hard to leave your country. Departure is the hardest step to take in everyone's life. When I moved to the United States from India, I did not like the United States for few months. I missed my friends, family and my country but then I got used to it. The Feeney's went through the departure and they would get used to it as times passes by. They were taking risk when they decided to leave their country. Risk was to leave their country and they might never get chance to come back. Michael and Mary were opening new doors when they decided to leave their country. They knew they would never have the same life as they had it in the Ireland. They would never have the same relation with their siblings. They would write to their parents but might never see them again. They would have to work and would have less time to write letters. Michael and Mary would have to close the few doors such as going back to their country, their closeness to their siblings and the everyday happening which they would not be part of as they are moving. They would not be doing the work they used to do at their home and not everyone would think about them as part of the family. When my parents moved to the United States they closed the few doors such as their friends, family members and relatives. They never had time to talk to all of them. In addition, when they visit my country they do not have same closeness with their family as they had it before. Michael and Mary were taking this risk when they decided to leave their country. Risk means to lose something or to endanger one's life. Opening one door and closing others is a risk and it involves hopes in it too, about what is going to happen in the future. They were risking most important thing in their life for bright future. Finally, when you move, you open new doors but close few old doors and everyone who has moved had to go through this. Michael and Mary would close some doors but always remember their culture and their past. The Feeney's children have hopes and their hopes would improve their lifestyles. You always have to lose something to gain something in your life. Michael and Mary were risking their past for their future. Essay00021 In the future students have the choice of studying at home by using technology such as computers or television or of studying at traditional schools. Well, I prefer to study at traditional moreover studying at home using technology for several reason. One reason is that a machine can never replace a human. Secondly, I feel better off when something is teach to me one on one and that I can relate to. Most importantly, if I don't understands the way a teacher teaches the teacher eventually learn how to teach the way I can be taught. I feel that machine are a good source to get information from however it is not best for it to teach me. For one when I do things for instance writing an essay. If I make a mistake like using the wrong pronoun I would rather a teacher tells me than a computer just underline the word and I am still felt puzzles. Staying home is fun but I feel much better having to get up and meting my teacher. You can grow a relationship with a teacher at a traditional but you can't with a television. Futhermore, I feel better when someone teaches me not something. I want someone that can brief , feel, and bleed like me. Not a thing that I have to always be plug. What if I'm at home sick how is the computer going to know how I am feeling ,and that I can't come and type. Plus in my case I have problem with my hands that get swollen and hurt when I move it, how is the computer going to know to give additional time. Finally, machine not made to rule. Human were put to dominate over all things. Essay00031 Nowadays technology is playing important role in today's world and in the future student will have opportunity to stay home and study home by the help of computers and television. I think we are lucky that we are getting this facility. I would prefer to stay home and study. There are lots of advantages of staying home and study and some of them are following. Furthermore, student can save their money and stay home because they get every information on computers also they can save their money for campus and cars. They also can have lot of time to study because students who commute they spend there most of time for coming and going back to home and they don't have enough time to study. Finally, I think in the future everything is going to control by technology and people won't even have to work so hard for the things they are doing now. And computers play big role today so I would like to stay home and have online classes that way I can get help and I can do well and I won't be late to class anymore. And some student are not comfortable with the other classmate or they can't study with someone else and they want to study alone I think this is the best idea to do well and get good grades. Essay00034.text Going to Exile Did you ever have to go through the time where you get something that you always wanted, but at the same time you have to give up the thing that is really important to you? In the story "Going to Exile" by "Liam O'Flaherty" successfully proves the saying "Opening one door while closing another". This story is about two adults who are leaving their country with the hope of getting enormous opportunities but at the same time they also have fear of taking risks in unknown land. Michael and Mary were really looking forward to make their life better in the place where they don't know anybody. They don't want to leave their family and the people who they really care about. They have to leave their parents who were there to support them at every step of their life. Michael and Mary will also have to say good-bye to their friends and they have to begin their life all over again. They ought to accept a challenge and they are going to have to settle in the strange country. You can take myself as an example, I left my country and came to the United States; It was really hard for me to fit in with the different people and with the different living style. Same as me Michael and Mary have to leave the past behind for something that they want. They wanted the bright future so they have to leave their family and country. Furthermore, Michael and Mary will get something they want but they might loose something that they like or love. All over sudden their departure might affect their mother's health. While they were leaving their mother was really sad and she was thinking that this is the last time she will ever see them. After they left she couldn't control her feelings and kept on hoping that they would come back. So she might die and Michael and Mary would loose their mother. The risk that both Michael and Mary were taking was that when something will happen to their family member (mother) they might not be able to see them and to help them whenever they will need them. In the story the author also stated that the mother was jealous of her daughter, on one side she has hope that her daughter is getting opportunity to make her dream come true but at the same time she is jealous of her daughter because she didn't get the opportunites that her daughter is getting. Michael and Mary will or will not get something that they want but they have to forfeit whatever they had it they have to let it go. The other risk that they are taking is that they are leaving their country with the desire to make some money and make their life better than it is. If Michael and Mary will be successful to find a job they might have to work harder than they used to do. I have seen the people who leave their country hoping that they will find nice job and will enjoy their life in the place where they are going. Nevertheless they realize that everything is happening in the other way than they thought. Therefore same as those immigrate Michael and Mary might find difficult to find an occupation in the area where they are interested in it. Finally, Michael and Mary had already made their choice that they are going to settle in the USA but at the same time they are taking risks and there is hope involve in it too. They are going to make their life better in the place that they are going they possibly have to struggle for it. In order to make their dream come true they have to give up the things they adore especially their family. Essay00041 Education is very important way for the progress professional, and now exist lots methods When you need learn something, in my case I prefer for the method traditional school, because I'm weekend college student and I tray learn English with all methods with tape, video, computers, etc, but the best for me is with tutor. For the traditional schools I thing is much better for mi, because I have the tutor in class, all time for any reason you have to ask about the topic etc, if you have any question somebody help you. Essay00051 I Believe that technology is very important for ours lives, now a day that student have the choice of studying in they home using computer is good idea because they would be concentrating more in they studies. I think that this choice bring successful in ours future, this program will be interested Essay00061 In the future, students may have the choice of studying at home by using technology such as computers or television or of studying at traditional school. I prefer to study at traditional school. I prefer to study at traditional school because you have the opportunity to know people from different countries also you have the opportunity to learn more about that countries instead if you stay at home by using technology as computer or television. Other reason because I chose to study at traditional school is because you are able to have communication with other people, then when you going out of school you will be ready to work and to have communication with other people. Also if you study at traditional school as Montclair State University you will be able to make friends and to have a fun school, if you make friends and the school is fun you will be able to finish school instead if you stay at home you don't be able to make friends. At conclusion studying at traditional school I think is better than studying at home by using technology such as computer or television. Essay00064.text It is sometimes said that choice involves opening one door while closing another. For example, a major move to another city or country may be thought of as opening a door to adventure and excitement, though the actual departure may bring a sense of finality and loss. Look closely at the Feeneys as family and their relationship to their land and country. Discuss the risks they are taking and the hopes that are involved choices they have made. In this essay I am going to talk about the risks and hopes of Mary and Michael Feeneys leaving their homeland to live and work in the United States. The risks that Mary and Michael Feeneys are taking when, they went to the United States on the following morning. They were stay together in their homeland that God had made for them, now they were traveling by them selves, so I think that was a risk for Mary and Michael Feeney. Mary never in her life went to work at factory when she was living in her homeland. Now she had to go to the United States that day to work as a servant or maybe in a factory. Michael does not know what to do when he went to Boston, Massachusetts. Mary and Michael's father thinks on the following day he would lose his two eldest children; however never to see them again perhaps. Now some of the hopes that are involved in the choice they have made are that Mary and Michael can start to work and send money to their family and hold out a better economic promise for their mother and father and all the children. Michael was thinking to send money to his father even before he paid to his Aunt Mary for his passage money; however he told himself that with his great strength he would earn a great deal of money. Another hope that Michael has was that when he paid all the money for his passage back, he would send money to his father for Christmas. I think that are the risks and hopes that are involved in the choices that Mary and Michael Feneeys have made. Essay00071 In the future many students may choose to study at home or use the new technology Such as computers, television or maybe prefer to study at traditional schools. If I was to make a choice, I would prefer to use the computer at home. The reason I would pick to be teach at home are: first of all it be easier for me to understand the teacher if I don't understand something. Second, I would not be distract or bother by anybody. Three, students cannot say that they don't feel like going to school because is too far. In conclusion they are too many other reasons that would make the student feel more comfortable by being teach at home. I personally think it would be a great experience for those who are really interest to study. This invention would help many People unable to walk speak or talk. Essay00081 In a future the way of the education will be changing according with the technology. The education process have been changing according to the society. People are incorporating new things to the education such as the computers, videos and a lot of things to enrichment the education process. The study in the traditional school is the basic way to learn, it cannot change in any society. Only a teacher can help to the students to learn and improve each day. These teachers can use the technology to motivate to the students in order to help them to become in excellent people for the future, because the teachers have to show the students all the technology and this advantages to become them in a professionals. The students have to go to school if they really want to learn and then they can use the technology to walk according to the rest of the world. The traditional schools is a primary choice and the technology is the way to keep the knowledge's in order to be actualized. Essay00084.text " Opening one door while closing another" A lot of authors have treated topics about realities in life. This is the case of Lian O' Flaherty who wrote, " Go into Exile". In this story the author describe a real controversial situation that a lot of families have passed at least once in a lifetime. It is the exile. In this story we can see the trouble in the Feeney's Family, two of their kids, Mary and Michael, had to travel to the United States to live there. Michael and Mary hoped to have better life and earn money to help their family, they were also a little sad because they had never been separated to their family before. Mr. And Mrs. Feeney's were sad to separate to their son and daughter, but they understand that Mary and Michael can have better future in the United States. Mr. and Mrs. Feeney's worked the hole life to gave a good education to their kids, and at the time to separated to them they felt sad to live far of them and also happy because Mary and Michael will have more opportunities in their life. The Feeney's family is an example to a lot of people that have passed this situation, people who had to separate in order to obtain better future. This story can show us that it is very important to love our family and also sacrifice to help them, even if we have to go to exile. Essay00091 In the future, I think students should have the choice of studying at home by computers, television or at traditional schools. If I where a student and I have the choice I would prefer to study at my home computer. In the next paragraph I will explain why I want to study at home. First of all, I would study at home because I can study whenever I want. I can also wake up late in the morning eat something and go to a classroom on my computer. The best reason I want to stay at home and study is because I have a little sister and she is only 8 years old, so I have to take care of her in the summer when my parents go to work. With computer at home I can also take classes in summer as well as take care of my sister. Second of all, I would study at home is because let say that I did not got a chance to study today. I can go on the computer and study yesterdays lesson as well as today's lesson. By studying at home I also get to use my computer that I have at home. I think these are the reasons I want to stay at home and study at home. Essay00101 I am a very social person ,that is probably an answer to my own question..Study at home with a computer or go to school like I traditionally have?No matter how advanced the future technology could get I would prefer the old fashion way, getting ready early in the morning ,grumpy and stressed. To have a quick breakfast that I can barely masticate, reach the car keys and the bookbag and run out like a crazed maniac just to be on time.Opening the classroom door and give a lame excuse about your tardiness to the teacher, explaining your grandmother sickness and how that affected your morning schedule(sure he knows that you are a huge liar),flunk tests, meeting people, good times at parties ,God forvides I leave school to embrace myself with a machine that will never give the most precious pleasure "DEALING WITH HUMANS" Essay00111 I preferred traditional schools because, in traditional schools professor teach students so, when professor teach students they know what they teaching and they know what they talking about. Professors has a lot of experience and intelligence. I wouldn't choose technology because technology could be wrong sometimes. Technology is a machine and if something happened to it then it doesn't know what it doing or what it teaching. For example one day I typed a book report and I save the work and next day when I opened the work it was empty. Another reason I wouldn't choose technology because it has no brain like humans but professors have brains and they know how to teach and they know what to teach. I think the best place to study is traditional schools. I think computers and televisions are not a good idea to study. Essay00114.text "Going into Exile" The story "Going into Exile" is written by Liam O' Flaherty is about a small family. I think opening one door while closing another means that Michael and Mary are opening a new door to a New World, which is United States, and at the same time they are closing the door from Ireland. I going to write about the risks and hopes that they have to take when they go to United States. Both parents and children are miss each other. Michael and Mary think that they can make a lot of money when they go to the United States but I think they are wrong. For example, when I move from India to here I thought I could make money easily but I found that I was wrong. If you go to any country, it does not matter if it is a poor country or rich country, you still have to work hard to make money. First of the risk that they have to take is that Michael and Mary thinks that they can get a nice job when they get to Boston but, they could be wrong because one reason is that they don't have enough education to get a nice job. If you are well educated then it is easy to get a job in the United States. I think Michael and Mary would be working in a restaurant or some hotels. I think it is better to get education first then go to the United States. Second risk that they have to take is that they have to change a lot of different ways. They have to change their culture style and dress style because United States is a totally different from Ireland. So, it is going to be hard for them to live in Boston. Third risk that they have to take is that they have to leave their parents and their bother and sister back in their country. It is going to be hard to live without them because they miss them a lot. So, I think Michael and Mary should live with their parents and try to get better education and then go the United States. Finally, I wanted to say that these are the risks that they have to take if they go to the United States. So, I think it is better not to go to the United States right now because they are children and if you think anyway, you cannot find a good reason why they should go to Boston so, I think it is better not to go. Essay00121 In today's world many people decide to study at home by using technology. Most of them choices are to work with computers, television or studying at traditional schools. I would prefer to stay at home and study. Studying at home it's really an excellent for people who are like myself. I don't like to be disturbed when I am studying I like to have study in very quite environment. Also, I could have all the equipments I need such as books, papers and pencils or pens. That way I don't have to look around and waste my time. At home nobody could disturb me and I could concentrate better at home. This is great idea to for people like myself to study. I will not lose my concentration and know the material better and understand. Essay00124.text GOING TO EXILE For a long time many immigrants come to the United States to look for success and happiness. People make choices that involve opening one door while closing another. For example, Mary and Michael are two young teenagers from Ireland. They are going to the United States to have better life for themselves and their family. This essay will explain risks and hopes that Mary and Michael have when they arrive to the new country. Entering into the new country Mary and Michael will face many risks. Everything will be different for them such as a new country, new culture, new people, as well as new lifestyle. It will be very complicated for them. Many of the things they will experience will be due to chances they take. Certain things they'll have to do without knowing whether it's going to work out fine or not for example, finding a job. They don't have any special skills besides farming work and also they are not use to different types of work such as factory work. This could be a huge risk for them. Furthermore, some of the risks that they might be fear of the society because in the America everybody's lifestyle is unique such as culture and lifestyle. Also, both of them might be afraid of adapting American culture and forget their own culture. In addition, Mary and Michael might be afraid not to see their family again. Another risks could be about the atmosphere that they are going to live in. It could be very different from that of their country and they might get sick. In the America the medical expenses are very high and they probably won't have that kind of money to waste in the beginning. Many people think that America is the land of opportunity. This way they can fulfill their dreams and hopes best for the future. Mary and Michael are hoping that their life in the new country will be better than it was before. If they work hard and have some kind of enough money they might want to get a better education in order to ensure a successful future. It will help them to get out of doing labor work. Also, they could earn more money and make a living for themselves. In addition, they are hoping to help out their own family back in their country and make their living conditions better. They know life in America will very complicated however, they are hoping that they'll be strong and face the complications that are ahead of them. They are hoping to get used to it. Mary sees coming to the United States from different prospective then Michael does. Mary is hoping to have better social atmosphere. She longs for the real friendship and true love. On the other hand, Michael just wants to work. He is thinking about what he is going to do after he earns money. It is never easy for a person to leave their country and to go to another. Coming to America can be a very risky step for foreigners. Even though they will learn a lot and gain experience, the beginning is always a struggle. These are the things Mary and Michael will go through, as will a lot of people new to America. But it doesn't take long for one to fit in, in America, for America is supposedly called "the melting pot" of the world. Essay00131 I think from what I see around me these days, that if the students have choice of studying at home by using technology such as computers or television, there won't be a lot of educational people like now, so my opinion is that the traditional schools is the best way to create an intelligent people, why? That's what I'm going to explain now. If the students in there first years of studying, these days find out that they can do what ever they want, and there's no one like teachers will ask them to work or do something, they will prefer to: play in the backyard, or in the parks, or with all the toys they have, instead of doing homework on the computers, or the television for example. The kids these days different than the kids in the past, and if you don't tell them what's good for them, they will prefer to have fun playing games on the computer rather doing homework, with no teachers to correct the papers and give grades, and some other reasons there is no time to talk about now. Essay00134.text Essay Exam Topic: Look closely at the Feeney's as a family and their relationship to their land and country. Discuss the risk they are taking and the hopes that are involved in the choices they have made. Do you know how hard it is to leave your country, and love ones behind and may never come back again? Have you ever felt the fear of moving to a foreign country? Both Mary and Michael in Liam O'Flaherty "Going into Exile" left their country and love ones Behind, and felt the fear of moving to a foreign country. Moving to a foreign country, one must think twice before making this decision. Especially if the person is leaving love ones behind. The person who is leaving must take all the precautions when making his or her decision. He or she must also think of alternatives in case the journey was not successful. Therefore, there are many risks and hopes involved in the choices when a major move to another city or a country is made. From the story "Going into Exile" Mary and Michael faced major risks when they decided to move to the United States. This may bring to them a sense of finality and loss. Michael and Marry may never come back to their homeland and love ones. The situation was so difficult that the writer compared their exit to a funeral. This lead us to another risk that the Feeney's children were facing. The Feeney's children may loose their relationship with their family and friends, and as told in the story the mother and the youngest brother were sick. Both may die without Michael and Mary have the chance of seeing them again. This is also felt by some of the people who came to say goodbye to the Feeney's children. Some of them were happy and others were sad about Michael and Mary departing to the United States. In this story Mr. and Mrs. Feeney sacrificed the loss of their children and the risks that Michael and Mary may never succeed. There was a risk that Michael may never find a decent job and be able to help his family back home. Mary may never find a good man to marry and settle her life with. It is understood from the story that Michael had a closer relationship than his sister Mary to his country and family, because he was taking the risks of going to the United States to find a job and help his family. Mary is taking this risk and all what she was concerned about is herself. As told in the story "Going to Exile" page 10 paragraph 16 "Unlike her brother she did not think of the work she was going to do or the money she was going to earn." On the other hand, the major hopes of moving to another city or a country may be thought of as opening a door to adventure and excitement. Michael's hopes to find a good job all depend on his great strength and lusting for adventurous life. He also hopes to make enough money in the first four months of arrival to the United States so he can help his family back home as was told in the story on page 9 paragraph 7 "I should have all that money paid off in four months, and then I'll have some more money to send you by Christmas." Mary may marry a rich man and get married and live the happy life she always dreamed of. As mentioned in the story page 10 paragraph 16 "Thoughts of love and foreign men and of clothes ...etc., she was fond of life and several young men among the local gentry had admired her in the Inverara." Finally, Michael and Mary may never loose their relationship with their family and friends. They may keep in contact with them and may provide them with better opportunities in the future. Michael and Marry will probably have better future and opportunities in the United States. In conclusion, one has to sacrifice their love to their family and friends in hopes to have a better future and opportunity. That was the first step in which Michael and Mary took in this story hoping to have a better life and future for them and their family. Essay00141 In the future, if I have choices of studying at home by using technology such as computers or television or of studying at traditional schools I believe that I would prefer to study at traditional schools. The reason I would be concentrating more on my studies than if I am using computers or television. I think that I would be interesting on something that is not related to my studies. Also, not only I would get more work than but I would be smarter that's why I choose traditional schools. Essay00144 I believe that Mary and Michael are taking some painful and lonely risks. Also, some wonderful hopes that are involved in the choices they have made. First of all, they are taking the risks of abandoning their family, friends, and their homeland. Also, they're taking the risk of hurting their family's and feelings. The reason I say that they are taking the risk of hurting their parent's feelings is because both of them saw the pain of them leaving in to their father's eyes at the night of the party. For example, " Mary happened to look up and she caught her father's eyes as he stood silently by the window.... His eyes rested on hers for a moment and then he dropped them without smiling, and with his lips compressed he walked down into the kitchen." (p.10). Also, they saw their mom crying " My children, oh, my children, far over the sea you will be carried from me, your mother." (p.14). As the mother was saying that both Michael and Mary could see how she was hurting because of them leaving. Secondly, their hopes of working hard to become rich and then go back to their homeland to take care of their family. Also Michael's hopes of paying his debts, and give his dad back the money for the party. Which gives him a feeling of strength and made him optimistic about his voyage. The reason is that he believed that he was going to do all those things with no difficulties. Also, unlike his sister he didn't think that he was going to have any problems once he got to the United States. In conclusion, I can say that the biggest risk the young adults took was leaving the most important thing in life behind without knowing if they would see it again one day. I think family is the most important thing in life because your family is like your life. Which means that you cannot live without it, but sometimes you don't have any choice than to move away from it. It's just life, like a singer said, " life is like a boat navigating you don't know where it's going." Which means that sometimes, the circumstances in life make you do things that you don't want to do. But, you just have to decide what's best for you. Essay00151 In today's society technology is playing a major role. We have choices in everything that we do. Us, human, have to compete with the technology, since it's going very fast. Using the technology, I prefer the students should study at traditional school, even though they have computers or television. The reason why I prefer traditional schools is because; traditional schools motivate the students to do certain things. The schools make students do their work even if they don't want to. If the students are studying at schools they will be more focused on their work. When they are at school, they only have schoolwork to focus on. On the other hand, if the students are studying on computers or television, they will not be focused on studying. I strongly believe that, because on computers and television, there are other sites, which students may end up visiting. For example they would go check their mails on the Internet, play games, entertainment, etc. As a result students will not be as much focus on computers or television as they are at traditional schools. In conclusion, I prefer the tradition schools as the choice of studying in future. I think it best fits for the students to continue and advance their education. Essay00154 ESL IV "Going into Exile" Life does not always work out the way we want it to be. We have to give up so many things, so that we can reach our dreams. "Going into Exile" is an outstanding short story written by Liam O'Flaherty. This story is about two adults, Michael and Mary, whose emigrations brings many risks and hopes to their family. Their emigration brings two possibilities to the family, which, are the opening and the closing doors. Opening a door and closing a door are involved in the choices that everyone makes. It generally means that in order to gain something, we have to loose something. Choices involve both risks and hopes. In this story, the Feeneys are dealing with the same situation. One of the possibilities of Michael and Mary's emigration was the closing door, which involved risks. Feenys are aware of aware of the risks they are taking. Their family will collapse because they will never see each other ever again. The parents, Mr. & Mrs. Feeney, are afraid to let Michael and Mary go, because they are scared that their children might change. They might forget their family, country, religion, and country. I think the parents have to suffer the most pain, because after raising their children they have to let them go. I put myself in their position and I felt how hard it is to let someone go whom you love the most. Another possibility of Michael and Mary's emigration was the opening door, which involved hopes. At one point in the story Mrs. Feeney said, "What will be must be, and sure there is hope from the sea, but there is no hope from grave." I think she is saying that no matter what happens her children have to emigrate. She thinks she might see her children as long as they are alive. The Feeneys have hopes of seeing each other even though the chances are they will not. Another hope is that Michael and Mary will help their family financially. In addition, they will have more opportunities and benefits. For example, they will have better education and better living conditions. Even though Michael and Mary are going away from their family, I do not think they will forget them. They have memories of their family, which will keep their family close to their heart even though they are thousands of miles away from each other. When Michael was leaving the cabin before going to Kilmurrage, he picked up a piece of loose whitewash and put it in his pocket. This shows that he took memories with him and he will not forget his family. Through out the story, I like Michael and Mary the most. They are giving up everything for their family. In conclusion, I think the story has many sorrows. It brings out the emotions in each reader's mind. The words used in the story are so powerful that the reader actually feels as if he/she is in the story. Emigration of Michael and Mary brought many risks and hopes to their family. The Feeneys have to give each other so their family can be helped. Just as I said before, life does not always work out the way we want it to be. I think the message of the story is that everyone has to give up something valuable in order to accomplish his or her dream. Essay00161 I would prefer studying at traditional School. The reason for saying this because studying at home by using technology such as computers or television does not really help you that much as traditional School. I know we have so many advantages of computers. They can tell you what is right and wrong but not like teachers. In studying at traditional School will help determine things. Also, teachers know better than us. They have been on that place where we are today. Also, In life you learn from each other not alone by yourself. If you working with somebody you can ask for help or anything you need. Working on computers and television does not really tell you everything in details. Also, you can not even ask question or tell you comments about anything. But if you working with traditional School you can ask whatever you want to ask if you not agree with anything. You can tell statement about anything. I thing every body should go to traditional school for studying. Another reason for choosing this choice is that, I think teacher would tell us more about stuff that we needed. Computer will not do that. So if you want to professional in your life go to traditional School. Essay00174 In the Short Story "Going Into Exile" by Liam O'flaherty . The hopes and risks of the Feeney's two older kids of opening a door to close another by coming to America may bring a sense of finality to some to the culture form their life and starting a new life. Their culture that they learned form their parents and ancestors may not be similar to the one in the United States. Michael and Mary have to take the risks of coming to the United States and experience different kind of peoples and cultures. Michael has to take the risk of coming to the United States and not finding a job. Mary may not find a suitable person for her to marry. They have to take the risks of probably abandoning their country and never going back, and not see their parents for a long time or not are able to help them financially. They are even taking the risk of their family forgetting about them or the other way around it. Michael and Mary parents knew that all this risk could happen. That explained that way they were reacting. They were happy deeps down inside, but it shows more of being sad, angry and even a little jealous. The mother was jealous of Mary because she probably did not have the same opportunity likes she has. The father was afraid of them forgetting their culture and values. The risks and hopes are similar because by taking the risks, they are hoping that it turns for the best and have a great life. Not all risks are bad because it depends on how your hope to accomplish the risk. To some people to open a door, they are closing another. It does not work for everyone because still some people follow their teaching and values. They have to be more open to the new environment and the American way of living. When you close a door is not completely because you can always go back and review your culture and background. Every risk that you take, if you take it with the hope of succeeding, You will end up accomplishing all the new challenges that come to your life. Mary and Michael hope to go to the United States and successful accomplish that reason they came to this country. They hope to make their family proud of helping them and going back to their country. They are taking this challenge and risk to be in a new place with people that they do not know, and hope for the best. In a way they think like their parents but also want what is best for the whole family. Essay00181 Even though, in the future there might be a possibility for students to have a choice of study, I would always prefer the traditional way, which is in the traditional schools. In the traditional schools students enjoy the whole experience of learning hand to hand, by this I mean that they can talk to the teacher and have some kind of dialogue with their peers, I belief that if people study in group they learn more, because they ask questions and they can also help find an answer for those questions. The only way to learn this is outside your home and not through technology. I also belief that traditional schools are better because students have the experience of meeting new people and deal with new challenges away from home. By dealing with the outside world which can happen in the traditional schools not through technology nor home studying, I belief people mature in the way of becoming independent faster. Technology can also be helpful for the study of some courses, but I belief that it doesn't give the student the whole potential of learning. I think that in order to have a great experience in learning we must learn with others because we can challenge each other and learn from each other. This type of learning in group can only be accomplished in the traditional school classes not some other way. Essay00184 Moving from one place to another like from one country to another, involves many risks and hopes people take with them to their destination. Those risks and hopes are involved in all the choices people make. A good example of these choices can be found in the story " Going Into Exile", which was written by Liam O'Flaherty. This story describes the departure of Mary and Michel Feeney from Ireland to the United Sates. This departure involves hopes and risks they may encounter. Mary and Michael left their homeland, Ireland, in order to look for a better life. They both have the great hopes of becoming rich in order to help their family and support themselves. For Example, Michael is looking forward to earn enough money to pay his Aunt Mary for the money she lent him in order for him to make the trip to the United State. I think that the only problem he has is that he has hopes, but he doesn't know if there will be a job available for him that he will find a job that pays good money. For example, on page 9, paragraph 8, it describes how Michael felt strong that with his great strength he would earn a great deal of money. This was a problem because he didn't know if he would find the job. Mary also hoped for the best about her trip. She wanted and was hopping that she would find a good job. This was a big hope she had, but she didn't know if there would be a job for her. A problem she might be also facing would be that she was a woman, and in the United States during that time women were treated as if they didn't have any rights. Another risk Mary might encounter will be that people might take advantage of her because she was a woman and was so innocent. The Feeney kids have the risk of becoming homeless because they6 are leaving all they know and are going to the United States, which is an unknown place to them. They both do not know what lies ahead and have the risk of never going back to Ireland, their home. The risk of not coming back to Ireland is not only their risk, but it is also the parent's risk because they might never see their older children again. This kind of situation was lived because there wasn't enough money for the people to be traveling back and forth. The choices the Feeneys have made will lead the lives of each member of the family in different ways. For example, Michael and Mary will be in an unknown place away from home. The parents will be in their homeland, but their lives will change because two of their children will be thousands of miles away. Even though the two, Michael and Mary, left Ireland with great and hopes, they didn't know the risks their destination will bring. Choices involve risks. Every time someone makes a choice, that person just thinks of the hopes but not of the risks. The6 do not usually think of the past they will leave behind. It is sometimes said that through life people make choices of looking toward the future and forgetting the past. All choices involve opening new doors, but usually that means closing others. Those doors you will be closing represent your past.
