CONCENTRATION IN DISPUTE RESOLUTION

MASTER OF ARTS PROGRAM

DEPARTMENT OF LEGAL STUDIES
MONTCLAIR STATE UNIVERSITY

The concentration in Dispute Resolution provides the student with both theory and practical applications in the area and skill of negotiation and mediation. Many courts have begun to mandate the incorporation of dispute resolution into the judicial system. Private commercial providers of dispute resolution are also contributing to this growing field. As just one example, in the corporate culture, a dispute resolution concentration can enhance the value and mobility of an employee in areas such as human resources and employee relations. In educational settings, peer mediation has become an important area of focus. Dispute Resolution is proving to be a powerful alternative to the often cumbersome and expensive litigation process.
